Corporate Sponsorship Program
In 2008, the Dufferin Tennis Club Executive introduced a corporate sponsorship program to build a fund for much needed court repairs and clubhouse improvements. The program includes three main components.
- Corporate memberships are available to organizations and businesses for up to four or eight employees.
- Advertisement space is available in our yearly brochure sent out to members; the brochure is also distributed to organizations and businesses within the community.
- Corporate sponsorships and donations are also welcome.
In 2010, the Dufferin Club entered into a joint charity venture with the Knights of Columbus, a recognized charitable
organization that can issue tax receipts. Donations from private sources and foundations can be channelled through the Knights of Columbus program on a 50/50 allocation basis. Funds can be designated for tennis and lawn bowling memberships for worthy youth and seniors or designated to the club's capital improvement program.

Corporate Sponsors and Grants
The Dufferin Tennis Club graciously acknowledges and would like to thank the following organizations for their support.
S.C. Johnson Canada, a company that strongly believes in the philosophy of contributing to the well-being of their neighbours and hosting communities in which they conduct business, has donated $2,500 in both 2008 and 2009 to assist in the restoration and repair of the tennis courts. In 2010, S.C. Johnson contributed another $5,000 to the club.
Scotiabank was our lead lead corporate sponsor for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Funds raised through the Executive and through Esther Yelle, Branch Manager, were matched by the three Scotiabank locations in Brantford (Lynden Road, Downtown and West Brant). In 2008, Scotiabank matched a total of $5,000 and in 2009, $2,500.
Enterprise Brant, a non-profit Community Futures Development Corporation providing financial and consulting services to local businesses, approved a $5,000 Special Projects grant in 2008 towards the repair of the tennis courts and to offer to provide additional assistance with fundraising efforts to rebuild the courts.
The Brantford Community Foundation, which assists with funding to improve the well-being of the community and its residents by providing financial assistance to various non-profit community organizations, approved our City of Brantford 2008 grant application to the extent of $3,146.02. In 2009, a grant for $1,569.24 for court repairs was also approved. In 2010, the Dufferin Club received $2,100 to help with the Centennial Celebrations and this year, the Dufferin Club was awarded $3,058.05 to purchase tennis and lawn bowling equipment for youth. In 2011, The Dufferin Club received $3,058.05 to purchase tennis and lawn bowling equipment to compliment and expand our existing junior program for children 5 to 15 years of age.
The Rotary Club of Brantford Sunrise Chapter donated the sum of $1,000 towards the replacement cost of 34 benches and picnic tables that were destroyed in a fire prior to the 2008 season. Each bench was fitted with an engraved plaque of appreciation, the cost of which was graciously covered for by Scotiabank.
Court Repair Update
Thanks to the generous donations of the above mentioned organizations, the Dufferin Tennis Club was able to commence with phase 1 of court repairs in 2008. Courts 4, 5 and 6 were closed Monday, July 14 for Armor Crack Repair by Ancaster Track and Tennis Paving. The work was completed Friday, July 18 thanks to some warm dry weather.
The club had planned to repair the remaining three courts in 2009, but fell short of the total funds needed. There were more cracks on these courts as well as a runoff problem which needed to be addressed which increased the cost of repair.
In 2010, Parks and Recreation announced the City has allocated $20,000 in their budget to help the club with the repairs of Courts 1, 2 and 3. The contract was awarded to Court Contractors Limited from Mississauga. The courts were closed Monday, September 20 for Arrmor Crack Repair. During the repairs, the contractors noted mold growing along the back of the courts due to limited sunlight exposure. As a result, Parks and Recreation sheared back the overhanging branches over all three courts to minimize its spread. Rain delayed the completion of the work but the courts were finally reopened Saturday, October 2.
Looking foward to 2012, the money the club has raised over the last three years for court repairs will go towards cleaning and painting of at least three courts. Parks and Recreation is also looking into the design and installation of a new, brighter and more energy efficient lighting system for the courts and lawn bowling greens as well as having the courts completely redone.
We would like to thank the following organizations for their support in 2012.
